Honduras became a member of FIFA in 1951. Its greatest international success came in 1982, when it qualified for the World Cup. In the final tournament, it played Spain and Northern Ireland to draws, but failed to advance to the second round.

- 1st International AfroHeritage Youth Soccer Tournament - This tournament will bring together U15, U17 and U19 teams of AfroHeritage backgrounds from Africa, South America, Central America and the Caribbean Islands.
